Off camera flash

I just love off camera flash. Here is what I discovered last week. When working with two Canon 580ex II speedlights use that little diffuser that pops out, trust me it makes a big difference. It really softens any shadows that may be cast by your subject. Often I work in tight spaces and do not have lot of distance from the back ground and the subject. I usually place each 580ex II on a light stand at 45 degrees to the subject. If you place the flash above the subject and diffuse the light, with the pop out diffuser it almost eliminates the shadows cast from the flash. If you use any diffuser like a soft box, using the little pop out diffuser in conjunction also softens the shadows even more.
